This past holiday season I was given a very low-tech gift from one of my closest friends. What is ironic about receiveing this gift is that he is as high-tech as it gets. (www.ktoddstorch.com) This gift was The Moleskine writing journal. Much time has been spent writing about the Moleskine journal on various blogs, Jerramy Wagstaff who writes for the WSJ wrote an article on the usefullness of this journal and the history linked to it. Here's my take on the journal. At first I was apprehensive to start using it, I don't know why, but I can only explain it this way: for the past 5 years or so, everything in my life has been downloaded from my computer to my IPAQ. I did use a legal pad for my to do lists, but other than that, I was all electronic. Now, all of the sudden, I was going to use a journal, and this was way out of my comfort zone. I am pleased to report that I have been using this Moleskine journal for about a week, and I love it!!!!! Mainly, I use it to organize my thoughts, my projects, and my ideas and "to do" lists. My calender and address book are still safe and sound in my IPAQ. Although it has taken some time to figure it out, I have grown more at ease with my new journal each day, making adjustments to the way I use it as I become more and more comfortable. I am quite certain that the Moleskine journal will be a permanent fixture in my organizational routine.
As far as going low-tech goes.... while I consider myself an "early adapter," and I pride myself on leaning much more towards the high-tech world, I highly recommend the Moleskine journal. Give it shot. If you're anything like me, you'll love it!
