It's been 7 months

Hard to believe that it has been 7 months since my last posting.  I have been extremely busy at work and have not given my blog the time and attention that it deserves.  I hope to start writing again soon.  Some topics that I am thinking of are...

1. The importance of prioritization
2.  In the absence of information almost anything will be believed
3.  More lessons from my 10 year old twins
4.  In the business world is warming up important
5.  New ideas should be welcomed with open arms

A song that gives Hope and Inspiration

Carterx2_300_1 Whenever there is tragedy there always seems to be something good that comes from it.  The hurricanes that have hit in the past weeks have certainly had an effect on all of us.  Almost everyone I know is doing something to help, something to make a difference.  I think anything that you can do is great and anything you can give certainly helps out a great deal.  There are a couple of twins in Hilton Head that are putting their singing, musical and writing talents to good use and are working hard to raise $500,000 for the relief fund.  $500,000 is an ambitious goal but if we all work together perhaps we can help them make it.  I have attached a link to their website where you can make a donation and hear the song that they have recorded (National Prayer).  If you can give please do so, but help me by helping to spread the word.  Post this on your Blog or put this in an email and send it out to everyone you know.  Thanks so much for your time.

Google now searches the Blogosphere

G_bsrch_logo Is this big news?  I can not decide as I have not spent a lot of time exploring what you can and can not do with the new Google search engine.  I guess it is significant in the sense that if Google is offering a blog search then that makes this Blog thing seem for real.....  Although I have known it is for real for a long time now.   In any case, If you have not checked it out yet click on the link below and give it a try.

If You want to Help with the Huricane relief

KRBE is a top 40 radio station in Houston, TX.  As I am sure you all know, many people that have left New Orleans have traveled to Houston to find shelter.  Right now we all need to do what ever we can do to help out the people of Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama.  While Radio stations and TV stations across the country are all doing their part in raising awareness (and that is what they need to be doing) KRBE has started a blog to help direct people to how they can get involved.  Please check out their blog when you get a chance.

GM will launch self-driving car in 2008

This comes directly from Engadget (which by the way is one of my favorite Blogs!).  If you do not subscribe to Engadget I recommend that you start.  They seem to be one of the first places to report on just about anything technology driven....  Check out this new car that GM will be launching in just a few years!!!!  WOW!!!

GM will launch self-driving car in 2008

By Barb Dybwad

GM self-driving car This will totally give new meaning to the term auto-pilot: GM will be launching a vehicle with an actual self-driving system in its 2008 Opel Vectra. That’s right — think KITT, people, but without the smarmy voice (well, we assume, anyway). It will be able to pilot itself even in heavy traffic at up to 60 mph, which is more than we can say for most of our friends, really. It’ll be using lasers, a video camera and a sophisticated computer brain to recognize signs and detect obstacles. Let’s hope the OS it uses is, um, extremely stable.

Trend Watching?

If you are into watching  the trends then this is the Podcast for you to listen to.  Tom Parish interviews Ubercool's very own Michael Tchong.   A couple of weeks ago I was in attendance at a conference held in Washington DC where both Michael and Tom had made presentations.  I found both of them to be very interesting and knowledgeable on their subjects.  I hope you enjoy the Podcast.

Southwest Airlines is Awesome

I had the opportunity yesterday to fly Southwest Airlines.  Granted my trip was short just a quick 55 min flight from Dallas to Houston but, the best part about it was just how easy the good people at Southwest Airlines make traveling.  Its the little things....  they board on time, they take off on time, they have many flights and if you want to catch an earlier flight they make it easy, no muss no fuss, no dirty look just here you go and enjoy your trip.... As you know I enjoy commenting on those companies that "GET IT" and in my book these guys "GET IT"

A couple of Fantastic Websites for you to checkout!

Here are a couple of great websites that you need to know about...

1.  www.phonespell.org   This is a website that will tell you what your phone number spells.  It is a free service, you simply put in your phone number and within just a few seconds it will tell you all the different words your phone number might spell.  It's a lot fun, but don't get to excited as I have found that many phone numbers simply can not spell out to anything.

2.  www.gasbduddy.com  Do you want o know where to find the cheapest gas in town?  You need to check out this website!  The way it works is that you type in your zip code and then you get a report of the cheapest gas prices in your zip.  It appears to be update quite frequently and could help to save some money.

Ubercool

As I blogged about last week, I recently was at a conference where Michael Tchong was the key note speaker.  I did some searching around and found his ubercool website.  It's an interesting website with many pages and links.  I found myself on it for a while last night and I honestly don't think that I made a dent.  Enjoy!!!
